Battlestar Galactica Online reaches 2 Million players

Since its official launch 3 months ago Bigpoints Battlestar Galactica Online now has over 2 million registered users playing the online MMOG. Some the launch of Battlestar Galactica Online a number of new features have been introduced from new Colonial and Cylon ships, a Merit system that enables the purchase of high-value items like nuclear missiles, and the ability for players to take control of their faction’s capital ships, the Battlestar Pegasus or Cylon Basestar.

Also included but only available to those successful enough to gather enough Merits during the game ( you can collect these by helping to destroy enemy outposts) are two new ships the Gungnir joins the Colonial fleet and the Nidhogg joins the Cylon. Both ships are available to two forms basic unlocked by in game currency and the advanced models by merits which you earn during the game.

Both ship names follow the Norse mythology theme, which has been used to name the existing line ships. Gungnir is Odin’s spear, and Nidhogg is the main dragon in Norse mythology, which gnaws on the roots of the World Tree.
